Why I started this podcast.

South Asians have been building America for generations, as doctors on night shifts, founders, teachers, volunteers and neighbors who show up. Yet the story told about us is often small, flattened, or hostile.

Beyond the stereotypes, there’s a fuller story: South Asians building food programs, supporting mental health, advocating for housing, mentoring the next generation, and quietly shaping the communities they now call home.

Narratives don’t change on their own. They change when the people doing the work are seen, named and remembered, and when impact is felt by everyday people in their own communities. I started this podcast to put those stories on the record, in full, with dignity.

It’s also an invitation to fellow South Asians who’ve been waiting for a sign to get involved. This is it. Your community needs you, and there is a place for you in this work.

Know someone quietly changing their community?

Nominate them, or yourself. We look for South Asians in the US who are:

  • Building or leading a nonprofit, community group or social venture

  • Using their profession to widen access, in health, education, tech or law

  • Willing to talk honestly about what it took, including what didn’t work
